Directional power monitoring
This is its primary application. The coupler can accurately distinguish between forward transmitted waves and backward reflected waves. Through the coupling port, the output power of the transmitter can be monitored in real time or the standing wave ratio (VSWR) at the antenna end can be detected without significantly affecting the main transmission line.
Signal Separation and Mixing
